Basal Body Temperature - temperature of a person's body taken first thing in the morning after several hours of sleep and before any activity, including getting out of bed or talking; often charted to determine the time of ovulation. Blink Rate - the number of times per minute that the eyelid automatically closes - normally 10 to 30 times per minute. Blood pressure (BP): The pressure of the blood within the arteries produced primarily by the contraction of the heart muscle. It's measurement is recorded by two numbers. The first (systolic pressure) is measured after the heart contracts and is highest. The second (diastolic pressure) is measured before the heart contracts and lowest. Body mass index (BMI) - a number, derived by using height and weight measurements, that gives a general indication of whether or not weight falls within a healthy range.

 

cc - This term is used as a measurement standard on a syringe. Usually is equivant to 100 units on an Insulin Syringe. Mor commonly known as an ml or mililiter.

Complete Blood Count (CBC): A set values of the cellular (formed elements) of blood.

Decibel - unit that measures the intensity or loudness of sound.

Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) - a test that records the electrical activity of the heart, shows abnormal rhythms (arrhythmias or dysrhythmias), and detects heart muscle damage.

Electrodermal activity (EDA) - measures changes in perspiration rate.

Electromyogram (EMG) - a test to evaluate nerve and muscle function.

Gram (g): Symbol for gram, a unit of measurement of weight and mass in the metric system. In weight, a gram is equal to a thousandth of a kilogram. In mass, a gram is equal to a thousandth of a liter (one cubic centimeter) of water at 4 degrees centigrade.

International unit (IU): An internationally accepted amount of a substance. This type of measure is used for the fat-soluble vitamins (such as vitamins A, D and E) and certain hormones, enzymes, and biologicals (such as vaccines).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - a non-invasive procedure that produces two-dimensional view of an internal organ or structure, especially the brain and spinal cord.

ml - Mililiter is a unit of measurement that is used primarily with an association with tubes and syringes. Is also known as a cc.

Pain Threshold - the point at which a stimulus causes a feeling of pain.

Range of Motion - measurement of the extent to which a joint can go through all of its normal range of movements.
